Studio Sensibility

In the darkest parts of winter it's easy to feel trapped in your indoor space. The walls feel closer, and the brass lamp you were so excited to find at the flea market last fall now needs to be replaced, urgently. Rooms that delight in summer sunshine suddenly beg for refreshment in colder weather. But we think we found a remedy to this restlessness that doesn't require a moving truck.

Daydreaming about artists' studios.

There's something inexplicably hopeful about perusing the rooms and homes where some of the most influential work of the last 200 years has been conceived. In our endless search for inspiration in the bleaker months we found respite in this selection of our favorite studios.

And lastly Alexander Calder's studio in Roxbury, Connecticut used 1933-1963. We figured we would end on this image because even one of the most prolific of artist's can have the biggest mess of a studio, and we can relate.
